This model maxes out at a Core i7-8565U processor, 12GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD and an Nvidia GeForce MX250 with 2GB of VRAM, which is more than $500 of course.

Design

The 3,8lbs and 14.3 x 9.9 x 0.7 inches Aspire 5 has high quality aesthetic with a silver, aluminum cover with the Acer Logo branded in the center flair. Instead of being a glossy plastic piece embedded in the chassis. The interior is what you might call standard, silver deck and black keyboard. There’s an Aspire logo on the hinge, which is neat. To top it off, the bezels on the display are surprisingly narrow for a laptop this cheap.

Connectivity

The Aspire 5 is extensively equipped with a variety of ports.

On the left side, a RJ45 Ethernet port, a power jack, an HDMI port, two USB 3.1 ports and a USB Type-C port. Meanwhile On the right,  one USB 2.0 port and a headphone jack and a Kensington lock slot

Display

The full-HD 15.6″ display with 1920 X 1080 resolution, is unlike many laptop in its league. The Aspire 5’s panel covered 65% of the sRGB color gamut which is 10% below what is considered “OK” of course 100% is the aim. Regarding nit, 300 nits would be cnsidered minimum at 276 nits, the Aspire 5 is below but performs well indoors without any issues.e.

Keyboard and Touchpad

Typing on the Aspire 5 is comfortable consequent to the springy keys, inclusive of the number pad, and a white backlighting that compliments the Aspire 5 well and complete a natural feel. As well as it looks awesome for the price.

The 4.2 x 3-inch touchpad is a decent size and offers a good feel even though buttons are a bit shallow. It does have Windows 10 Precision drivers, contributing significantly to gestures like two-finger scrolling and three-finger tabbing.

Graphics

With an Intel UHD 620 GPU, the Aspire 5 generate between 19 and 30 fps on GTA5 and and 40 to 90 fps on Ironsight as well as and average fps of: 26 on Resident Evil 3 Remake, 19 on Battlefield 5 and 50FPS om Pubg Pc Lite just to name a few. However, all drivers should be downloaded and no apps running in the background. However, the Aspire E 15 has the same GPU and performed way better than the Aspire 5.

Performance

For less than $500, the Aspire 5 packs an Intel Core i3-8145U processor and 4GB of RAM that flies through over 20 Google tabs along with additional tabs running in the background. The Aspire 5 runs several AAA title games real well with some simple adjustment, however, the performance will fluctuate with the games that are more taxing on the GPU.

Battery Life – Webcam –

The Aspire 5 offers a solid performance and also has a long battery life. Batttery will last 8 hours 51 minutes with continuous engagement.

The Aspire 5’s 720p webcam is at the losing end of the race with the grainy shots it produces. However, the color display is not quite bad.

Cooling

The Aspire 5 remains relatively cool under pressure, as the underside got 88 degrees Fahrenheit, the keyboard and touchpad: 86 and 79 degrees, respectively.

The Acer Aspire 5 is the perfect laptop to get if operating on a budget. The performance is awesome for the price along with the great display and the long battery life that will survive any work week. Its a great working machine that can be pushed beyond the call of duty.
